![]() ![]() This was a fun one seeing just how shitty they were in their youth and how that impacts their later years. When a family member dies, they get together and reminisce with their stories to try and figure out what's up. Ghost Story is the tale of the Chowder Society, a group of old dudes that share a dark secret. Cobweb is pretty rad, glad it finally hit streaming. There's a hole in young Peter's wall, and an eye i looking out from it, and of course his parents aren't going to help. Day 22 - Cobweb (hulu) + Ghost Story (1981) (prime video) Pretty decent overall, especially with the dynamic between the two leads. The Innkeepers has two employees at a closing hotel try to figure out what seems to be a haunting. It was a pretty interesting premise since the shooter (they've been speaking via walkie talkies) knew about her and seemed to have been hunting her in particular, (drawing the contrast between her actions as a cheater and her morals/job/role in life) but the movie falls apart for me as the dude starts spouting every right wing lunacy you can imagine and comes just shy of uttering "we're not so different, you and I". Night of the Haunted follows Alice as she is heading home from a booty call with the dude she's cheating with, she stops at a gas station when suddenly a sniper starts shooting, trapping her there with the corpse of the lady working the night there. Day 21 - Night of the Haunted (shudder) + The Innkeepers (peacock) (rewatches) All Hallows Eve is an anthology that contains the debut of Art the Clown (of Terifier fame), some decent and bloody stories that makes it a fine time. + All Hallows Eve (shudder) (rewatches)ĭemons 2 is a Bava classic, just a damn good movie. The 2023 version has fairly impressive effects and a more well-rounded use of the cast, but is somehow just kinda boring? It's a weird dichotomy between the two that I hope gets rectified in 20 years when Disney does another one. The 2004 version is wholly an Eddie Murphy joint, and he's a ton of fun in it, but the movie as a whole is pretty meh and super early-00's. This was a fun time, having never seen either nor having been to Disney to see the rides firsthand. Day 19 - Haunted Mansion (2004) + Haunted Mansion (2023) (both disney plus) I saw it in theater and liked it, it's not amazing but it holds that assessment. Because it's a scary movie, naturally the people running the haunt have a darker vision in mind for the patrons than just some frights. Haunt is a bloody romp through a haunted house in the middle of nowhere by a group of friends. ![]() Day 18 - Cursed (paramount) plus Haunt (prime) (both rewatches)Ĭursed is just a joy to go back to and watch, so many young actors of this time that I enjoy seeing them be dumb teens in this werewolf tale. However, because the first half is real-life-dry it sucks you in more than I expected, to the point where I was super into it by the end. The movie itself plays out as an evening of news broadcasts, so intentionally dull as it progresses to the crescendo of shit going down. Day 17 - Ghostwatch (vod)Īmong the first found footage/pretending this is real genre, this was created and presented by the BBC, creating a new War of the Worlds-type Oh Shit moment where a bunch of people freaked out. Another batch to cover most of the month's movies, will post again tomorrow with the final few once I decide what to watch tonight.
